I always had a passion for mechanical things — bikes, boats, cars, military vehicles, planes, just everything. Who would have ever thought that Lamar and Nelson Bunker Hunt and the Charolais cattle breed would start me on the road to seeing that passion come true.
n the mid-70s, I started selling Porsche, Mercedes, and BMW automobiles. After acquiring our dealer's license, a friend convinced me to start selling towing equipment. By the end of the 70s, I was one of the largest Century wrecker dealers in the country. In 1982, I became a Field Factory Rep for Century, living in Denver, San Francisco, and Portland, then Chattanooga in 1991, which is still home today.
With the help of so many people, we made the Century product known worldwide, and the Heavy-Duty Division, which I directed, became the dominant brand and design in the industry. To this day, that's still the case. In the 90s, as a hobby, I started flipping Sea Ray boats, and in 2008, just before the recession, I traded a Sea Ray for a Country Coach. I was hooked.
But unlike boating, coaching had a huge void: the lack of weekend fun at the docks and meeting people from all around Chattanooga who came to witness the beauty of the Tennessee River and Lake Chickamauga.
So, on our third attempt, we successfully founded Hawkins Pointe and JLH Coachworks. Hawkins Pointe offers premium overnight sites, spacious Executive Sites designed for large rigs, 34,000 square feet of covered storage, climate-controlled private bays, and our unique Luxury Club Storage facility.
JLH Coachworks serves as the cornerstone of our continued motorhome expertise, combining towing equipment manufacturing with client education on mechanical demands and service care.
Unlike traditional networks, we personally spend time with every coach. It's not about how many we sell, but meeting the full expectations of every client. Supported by a skilled local service team covering paint, tires, chassis, and custom conversions, our 40+ years of towing and manufacturing knowledge powers everything we bring today.
